With earnings season starting, I’m of the mindset of being extremely picky with what stocks I’ll be buying if it doesn’t have a clean set up / theme. I’ve focused on earnings winners for the past few years, and have made myself an expert in this field. It’s very black and white to me as I’ve studied and traded hundreds of examples, and if executed correctly - can produce R-multiples.

To understand the power of earnings season, I will be using this post to document some of the best earnings winners from last season. The set ups are apparent, and I traded most of them. However, spotting them and learning how to manage the trade is where the art comes in. When you have a clear set of rules of how you’re going to manage a potential big winner, you take the guessing out of the equation. That’s what I did and it has helped me execute with no emotion.

It’s important to have a clear set of rules to be able to take proper trades with sound risk management, position sizing, and sell rules in place. Earnings season produces some of the best opportunities every year. The examples above are from only last quarter.
